Head Bartender
POSITION SUMMARY: The Head Bartender supervises and coordinates activities concerning all beverage service including main bar and all service-related activities. These responsibilities include conducting company policies related to hiring bartenders and related staff, orientation & training. This position is responsible for fully stocking bar, providing accurate beverage product inventory and managing cost of goods sold (liquor, beer, wine, and specialty drinks) and department labor. The Head Bartender will maintain an elevated level of quality and service in all aspects of food and beverage service to the bar and its customers. While managing and monitoring department controls of food and labor cost ensuring food and beverage service adheres to company standards of quality, sanitation, and safety. Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:
TASKS AND COMPETENCIES:
Tasks
- Supervises and coordinates activities concerning all beverage related areas.
- Hires, discharges, trains, and evaluates all bar personnel.
- Purchases or requisitions all alcoholic beverages and related items according to company policy.
- Secures all beverages in an appropriate location, as well as alcoholic beverages that are required to be under lock and key.
- Adheres to and ensures all bar staff manages, maintains, and controls all state and local ABC laws including but not limited to serving only age-appropriate customers and requiring ID’s according to company policies.
- Properly stores & rotates all beverage & food products as required.
- Ensure recipe and portion controls are adhered to as defined by company policies.
- Supervises bar personnel participates and observes conformance to company recipes, portions, presentation and standards of appearance and taste.
- Supervises personnel to ensure appropriate dress, as well as cleanliness of bar-related areas and equipment.
- Communicates with management and staff to maintain efficient beverage service production.
- Responsible for organizing work schedule for employees with appropriate coverage of all bar shifts.
- Establishes and delegates work duties in the bar areas.
- Monitors the location of the bar employees as to their whereabouts throughout the shift.
- Responsible for the departmental orientation of new employees, on-the-job training and informing them of all appropriate safety and sanitation requirements.
- Completes all performance evaluations of the employees under the supervision of the Head Bartender.
Requirements:
- 2-3 years Bar Manager position in similar food/restaurant venue. Experience, preferably in a full service, high volume, casual setting.
- Liquor, beer & wine organizational experience
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and team-building skills.
- Ability to communicate and have a good relationship with others including management and other employees.
- Commitment to superior customer service.
- Proven organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
- Enthusiasm and a desire to succeed and advance within the company.
- Entrepreneurial inclination to be able to treat business as if owned.
- Clean criminal, drug & credit history
Compensation & Benefits:

- $20,000 – $25,000, plus tips
