Weeping Radish

North Carolina's first microbrewery is back home in Manteo

Weeping Radish timeline: North Carolina's first microbrewery, founded in Manteo in 1986 and back home at Firetender

The Taproom Comes Home

In 1986, Weeping Radish opened in Manteo as North Carolina's very first microbrewery. At the time there were fewer than 100 breweries left in the entire United States.

The brewery outgrew the building, moved north to Grandy in 2005, and the original Manteo location closed in 2007.

Nearly four decades after that first pour, the Taproom is back in Manteo, at Firetender.

Same town. Same beer. Same purity law.

The four Weeping Radish beers on tap at Firetender in Manteo NC: OBX Kolsch, Corolla Gold, Radish IPA and Black Radish

What's On Tap

OBX Kölsch — crisp, German-style.

Corolla Gold — golden Helles lager.

Radish IPA — citrus-forward.

Black Radish — dark, roasty Schwarzbier.

Rotating taps bring in new recipes, old favorites and seasonal flavors, alongside a full bar of wine and spirits. Draft or canned to go.

Every Weeping Radish beer is still brewed to the Bavarian Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of 1516 — hops, malt, yeast and water. No additives, no chemicals, no preservatives.
