TASKS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Must be able to follow instructions, work efficiently in the kitchen flow and multi-task
- Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques.
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
- Cook food in various pieces of equipment including ovens, broilers and grills
- Ensure great presentation by following company plating guides and techniques
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Check quality of ingredients
- Monitor inventory and stock on the line, prep areas and storage
- Properly stores & rotate all food products as required
- During the food production process, apportions meats, vegetable, desserts and other products and utilizes food surpluses to assist kitchen manager in controlling food costs and other related expenses.
- Ensure recipes and portion controls are adhered to as defined by kitchen manager.
- After set-up, samples, smells and observes food to ensure conformance to recipes, portions, presentation and standards of appearance and taste.
- Communicates with kitchen manager and supervisors to maintain efficient food production.
- Monitors and records all the food temperatures on the service line at the beginning of all shifts and when requested to do so.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a cook
- Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Ability to work in a team
- Good communication skills
- Excellent physical condition and stamina
- High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
- Enthusiasm and a desire to succeed and advance within the company
- Food safety consciousness at all times
- Clean criminal, drug & credit history
Compensation & Benefits:
- Full Time
- $18-20 / Per Hour, based on experience
